Accreditation: the vice president of instruction must provide an administrative voice in the area of instruction at the most pivotal juncture in our accreditation calendar, with our national reputation for excellence at stake. Student Learning Outcomes and Assessment Cycles: the College is already in danger of being placed "on warning" for failure to implement Student Learning Outcomes aggressively. We are at precisely the point when coordinated effort, assistance, guidance, and follow-through are most needed. Emergency Program Budget Reduction: Due to the severe ongoing statewide budget crisis, dozens of 17Թϒs academic programs are being slashed or eliminated. It is crucial that the vice president of instruction provide support and advice to assist in this process. Program Review: As a proactive response to the budget crisis, and in concert with the Accreditation Self-Study, the Vice President of Instruction must work closely with a range of faculty members to continue the implementation of a collaborative new Program Review Process. College Curriculum Committee: During the past twelve months, the CCC had made tremendous and urgent progress in improving our processes and procedures, but continued work is needed to ensure that our curriculum remains strong. As a result of the above concerns, the Academic Senate asks the following of the Cabinet and President Miner: That the President, with the Cabinet, articulate a vision for the college that is systematically implemented over more than just a one-year period; That the Cabinet identify and follow a process of formative assessment for administrators beyond the current process; That the Cabinet and President Miner ask for faculty and Senate input in terms of college decisions which directly impact the faculty; That the President and the Cabinet meet with each division at least once a year for an extended conversation about the concerns of the faculty in that division; That the President and the Cabinet hold a joint meeting with the Academic Senate annually ; That the President and the Cabinet provide and engage in campus activities fpr all faculty in the areas of instruction and student success and to provide mentoring and support activities specifically for new faculty for professional growth; That the Accreditation Liaison Office, along with the Cabinet and the President, actively engage the faculty community in the Accreditation process and provide timely, consistent communication to the faculty through the Accreditation Co-Chairs; That the President and the Cabinet publicly support the work that faculty do in shared governance, and communicate this work to the greater campus community; That the President reaffirm the administrations commitment to the 10+1 areas of faculty primacy as articulated in AB 1725, including primacy over curriculum, and that the administration fully support faculty and uphold their standards as they continue their statewide leadership in curriculum; and That the President and the Cabinet confirm that all the hard work done on PaRC and strategic initiatives and integrated planning budget will be implemented and used as the main bodies for shared governance at 17Թ. It is the desire of the Academic Senate that the President and the Cabinet work together with the faculty to ensure that the above concerns be addressed. Should this Bill of Particulars not be significantly accomplished to the satisfaction of the faculty by the conclusion of Fall quarter 2010, the Academic Senate of 17Թ reserves the right to call for a vote of no confidence against the President and the Cabinet, and to present the result of that vote to the 17Թ De-Anza Community College District Board of Trustees. u Q R S d : A B J K Q R h h 2?NQt`abcpq? ֻʻ֯֯ʯʯֻʻ֯֯hph0{CJOJQJaJh0{CJOJQJaJh+HShb`CJOJQJaJhb`CJOJQJaJhphb`CJOJQJaJh&CJOJQJaJhphr2CJOJQJaJ?u v S T 8 9 [ \ [R^gdb`I & FEƀs;gdb`I & FEƀs;gdb`gdb``gdb`*\ i j }~fagdb`I & FEƀs;gdb`gdb`I & FEƀs;gdb`~bcf]I & FEƀs;.gdb``gdb`gd0{I & FEƀs;gdb`fck!I & FEƀs;.gdb`I & FEƀs;.gdb`I & FEƀs;.gdb` ,ENT^`sPj3 $%)*+ƶƶƶƶ񓏓{w{w{wh6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666hH6666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666668@8 Normal_HmH sH tH DAD Default Paragraph FontVi@V 0 Table Normal :V 44 la (k@( 0No List B@B Comment TextdCJaJ@O@ .
